Master Rion began Tae Kwon Do training in 1983 at the age of 14, and achieved the rank of 1st degree black belt in 1987 at the age of 18.
In 2002, he achieved the rank of 5th degree black belt and earned the rank of Master Instructor.
In 2008, he achieved the rank of 6th degree black belt, and the title of Senior Master Instructor.
In 1996, Master Rion began Hapkido, and by 2001 had earned the rank of 3rd degree black belt.
In 2008, Master Rion achieved the rank of 5th degree black belt and the title of Master Instructor.
His teaching career began in 1996 as an assistant instructor, and has been teaching ever since.
In 2003, Master Rion started Benton County Martial Arts, with 22 students. Today, the school, renamed to Cedar Valley Defensive Arts, has approximately 100 active students.
